About Beautiful You

“Beautiful You” is a program that focuses on helping women and their families living with cancer. Our aim is to provide practical, financial or emotional support. We want to help families lead a normal life and try to make a difference no matter how small.

The programs aim is to raise funds and receive donations from individuals as well as businesses. The donations and fundraisers go towards helping women with breast re-construction if they are struggling financially.

Beautiful you program is managed by founder Debbie Clayton. Debbie started this program 4 years ago in memory of her mum who lost her battle with breast cancer. So this is her way of helping others.

A little about Debbie Clayton
My name is Debbie Clayton and I live in Buderim on the sunshine coast.
Ten years ago I lost my mum to breast cancer and in the last 4 years I have finally been able to deal with others that are going through this terrible disease.

I have my business Healing Art Therapies on Buderim. I am a clinical masseuse and have been massaging for 11 years.

” Since losing my mum I really want now to be able to help others with cancer as we never know when someone close to us maybe diagnosed.”

Once a month I have a morning called “BEAUTIFUL YOU” that I have started for women that are going through cancer. These mornings are free to these ladies.

They get to try on wigs, have their skin care and makeup done and get hand and foot massages. We also have painting mornings and craft . It is a real fun morning, lots of laughs which is the best therapy the best part is to see the smiles on their faces that were not there when they arrived for the mornings. These ladies also get to meet others and exchange phone numbers and become good friends. Also I have a pilates instructor that comes in to train these ladies as it is important while going through chemo and radiation to help release toxin.

“My ultimate dream is to set up a retreat for those who are going through cancer and their families where they can come and stay and have the luxuries that so many of them cannot afford.”

I have been very fortunate to meet a chef that is studying her masters in the states at the end of September and we had a cooking day last week and they learnt so much.

Alot of these women that I am meeting are in their early 30′s with very young children, what brave and beautiful women they are. They have such a positive outlook on life. My only way of doing this is to find an angel investor that can help these women.

My work is very rewarding so to be able to set up my dream would be fantastic. The feedback from the ladies that I have met over the years that are going through cancer have said this would be fantastic.

Our Stories

Trish Fitzgerald

I have been fortunate enough to be introduced to “The Beautiful You” mornings hosted by Debbie Clayton. I was told about the generosity and care that Debbie gives to women going through the effects of Cancer from a friend of mine. I immediately was very keen to go along to see for myself as my Chemo had finished 12 months before. Yet I had to have a second Mastectomy after that in December and my husband and I had started to feel the financial strain that numerous operations, treatments and medications bring.

Generally, other places I have spoken to if you are no longer going through Chemotherapy they no longer offer support, but Debbie is different, her support goes on and on and on. After chemotherapy the stress and strain is not over for cancer patients. I also have another operation to go, but we cannot afford it right now. All this strain starts to wear you thin after a while, but when I am at the “Beautiful You mornings” it all gets washed away, we are able to focus on our creativity and enjoy a connection and friendship with others that are going through the same type situation, all though all are slightly different and we can offer each other support. It is so nice and I am sure very healing in itself.

Debbie’s life has been touched personally with cancer with the loss of her own mother and I am sure this is how she knows that Cancer patients need Love, Laughter and a Place to Release some of the anxiety and this is what she does for so many of us…

On top of that the mornings are free, and this also helps to relieve stress in itself. Debbie is like the Mother Theresa of Cancer Patients on the Sunshine Coast.

We hold art days, candle making, makeup, massage and lots more. Most importantly the events are free and we thank our sponsors for helping us keep them this way.

Please contact Debbie for more information.

Champagne Shave
We know how distressing it can be when a lady starts to lose her hair. We are centered around helping women feel beautiful inside and out when it comes to their cancer experience… We have a specially designed Care Package set up for these ladies.

The first is our “Beautiful You Make Over” where we take our lady through a make up, wig Consultation and a scarf demonstration. This appointment is usually made anywhere from first diagnosis to the first Chemotherapy. The second step is the ever special “Champagne Shave Day!!” We like to help lessen the fear and shock that losing hair can bring. We make a Second appointment of “Beautiful You pamper package” and with a nice foot scrub, foot soak and silky moisture massage for the feet. We supply some Pink Champagne and Strawberries, and shave the hair away. We then finish with a light and soothing scalp massage…. aaaahhh bliss!!

Many woman have found this gives a feeling of being able to control when and how they lose their hair making it less distressing and doesn’t leave any long unsightly strands left around the scalp which can occur if it is left to fall out naturally.
